Q: What benefits does an ambulatory surgical center have over a traditional hospital?

A: Because La Peer Health Systems is an ambulatory surgical center (also called an elective outpatient surgical center), patients will not encounter other patients who are sick or have any infections. If a patient is sick on his or her day or surgery, we will simply reschedule to a more convenient date. In doing so, we keep our facilities safe and clean for all of our patients. In addition, since we only perform outpatient surgery, our patients will not
experience surgical delays like they would at a hospital. All of our procedures are scheduled in advance. On the day of surgery, a patient will have a short consultation with his or her surgeon and be immediately prepped for surgery. At a hospital, a patient may have to wait hours due to the hospital’s emergency room.

Q: What is included in La Peer’s concierge service?

A: Our concierge serviced is designed to make your stay at Le Peer as comfortable as possible. This is accomplished by several methods before, during, and after your procedure. Some of the services offered in our concierge medicine package include

Q: I don’t live in the United States. What is your insurance policy regarding international patients?

A: La Peer is proud to have clients from all across the world, and we aim to make their stay here as pleasant and easy as possible. Q: How long until after surgery can I board an international flight?

A: How soon a patient can board an international flight after surgery depends on a few factors. Obviously, the nature of the surgery is a large factor in determining a patient’s eligibility for flight. Patients who have undergone invasive and major surgeries should not fly until they have fully recovered. Typically, our doctors recommend that our patients stay in a hotel or recovery center a few days after surgery. While at a recovery center, patients will be provided around-the-clock nursing care, ensuring that their surgery is successful. After healing completely, a patient will be able to board a flight back home.

Q: I don’t have a visa or passport. Can you help?

A: Our concierge medicine package includes many services, including access to a travel agent. In addition to scheduling flight plans and coordinating transportation, our travel agents can also help our international patients obtain a visa and passport.

Q: Why can’t I drive myself home after discharge?

A: Because of the effects of the anesthesia and pain medication used during your procedure, patients will be impaired in the hours following surgery. It is for this reason why La Peer recommends that all patients, even those from out-of-country, be accompanied by a responsible adult. This person can receive post-operative care instructions and drive back to the hotel you are staying at. However, as part of our concierge package, La Peer will work with surrounding hotels and recovery centers to schedule a pick-up immediately after a patient is discharged. The patient will then be taken to a hotel/recovery center where he or she can recovery in a relaxing and safe environment.
